I wonder what the ancient Romans would have thought about us descending upon Rome from above the clouds? It’s mind-bending to think about how the world changes as humanity’s understanding of the world evolves.
Passenger jets have been crossing the Atlantic now for less than 100 years. Within the past 20 years, we’ve developed pocket-sized devices that connect us to a worldwide network of humans, transmitting messages, location, and videos wherever we want in the blink of an eye. In the past 2 years we’ve developed artificial intelligence that can talk with us in our languages.
But does it really understand us?
